The game includes the following modes.
TUTORIAL MODE is a training mode for those who have never played 2D fighting games or the BLAZBLUE series. Rachel Alucard will walk you through the mode. Come here to learn basics, and get used to the button controls.
Come here to practice anything from basic moves to advanced combos. Begin by selecting the character you want to play and the character you want to practice your moves on. Several different settings can be adjusted in the Training Menu.
Come here for more practical character controls as well as more advanced combos. Each character has ten missions to go through. These are very challenging missions, but try your best to complete them all.
Play through each character’s story mode to gain a whole new understanding of the world of BlazBlue. Each character has multiple paths available to them. Winning or losing important matches can show you a new version of the story you thought you knew.
In addition to the main story mode, you’ll also find the “Teach Me More, Miss Litchi!” section, which explains some of the story and mechanics of BlazBlue.*The strength level of the COM opponents in Story Mode can be changed through OPTIONS.
The PS Vita system version of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma has a digest of Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift where you can experience the story of the past titles in the BlazBlue series, as well as a bonus scenario.

Cartoon characters explain the stages and world where the game takes place. Players who have never experienced the story mode of the previous games in the series should check out this mode.
A mode where you can battle your friends nearby. Up to eight players can participate simultaneously.Each player is required to have a PS Vita system as well as a copy of the game ready.You can choose from among four different room types when creating a room. Room types can be changed once you’re inside the room.
|Match/Spectating Room||Two players within the room have a match against one another while the rest watch.|
|Free-for-All Room||Every player in the room creates a pair of their own to freely engage in a match.|
|Training Room||Two players engage in a training match while the rest watch.|
|Replay Theater||Every player in the room can watch saved replay data.|
Play the Arcade version of BLAZBLUE CHRONO PHANTASMA, fighting your way through computer-controlled opponents to uncover a glimpse into the BlazBlue universe. The mode will be cleared when your character defeats a certain number of computer-controlled opponents.
A offline battle mode. You can have a match against a CPU using your favorite stage and BGM.
Survive through a series of battles, heading towards the bottom of the Hierarchical City Kagutsuchi while improving a selected character. Your character’s HP will be slightly restored every time your character defeats an opponent. You will get a game over as soon as you lose one round.
The PS Vita system version has many new items available; in addition, a cost system has been implemented for the equipped items, making it similar to creating a deck of cards.
Compete against computer-controlled opponents for the highest score. The mode will be cleared when you defeat ten computer-controlled opponents. You won’t be able to continue if you are defeated.
*This mode won’t be affected by the difficulty settings in OPTIONS of the game.
After clearing Score Attack Mode, you can post your scores online to see how you fare against other players around the globe. There’s always room for improvement, so keep on trying until you’re Number One!
Unlimited Mars Mode is a chance for more advanced players to test themselves against the computer, and see how quickly they can win.
First, select one of four available courses. You will encounter different characters each time, all of them in their Unlimited mode. Your course time will appear on online ranking boards.
Defeat 10 computer-controlled characters to complete Unlimited Mars Mode. There are no continues if you lose a match. This mode is independent of the difficulty level you have set in the options.
In the theater, you can watch matches that you’ve recorded.
Only online battles can be saved to watch offline.
You can also download other players recorded matches through RANKING.
In the Gallery Mode, you can view or purchase the in-game movies, CGs, event scenes, and special artwork, as well as view voices, sound effects, BGM, and medals. Switch among graphics, sounds, and medals by pressing L Button and R Button.
You can view CGs of the scenario that has been added to the PS Vita system version.
